This race is being held to honor former and current military heroes as well as to support the ministries of Athletes in Action and Valor at Texas A&M.
Athletes in Action and Valor work closely with Texas A&M University’s NCAA and club athletes and the members of the Corp of Cadets. We exist to love and support the athletes, cadets, and veterans through sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. We believe faith makes a difference in these student’s lives. We desire to provide an opportunity for every student on every sports team and in every unit of the Corps to grow in their faith while at Texas A&M. We provide them with bible studies, one-on-one discipleship, and resources to share their faith with others.
On January 14, 2016, on a night training mission, helicopters from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 were involved in a catastrophic collision while flying off the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. All twelve pilots and crew members in both aircraft were lost. Major Shawn Campbell, Texas A&M Class of 2001 was among those lost.
In light of this recent tragedy UP5k is now taking part in helping to honor the life and service to our country of Major Campbell.
We invite you to click the button below to find out more about Major Campbell and how you can be a part of honoring him and supporting his family in their loss.
We know not everyone can run the race with us in February. However, you can still play a part in the lives of Veterans, Cadets and Athletes at Texas A&M University. By donating directly your gift will enable our staff to more effectively minister to and care for these students who will one day graduate and go on to influence others.
Would you Run the Race with us ?
What it’s all about:
The culture-shaping arenas of our world (those arenas that influence how we think and act) reflect a desperate need for salt and light; for role models embracing a life of significance and purpose. Through the incredible influence of sports, and the influence of our military, we must win, build and send the heroes of today with the message of eternity. Athletes in Action and Valor are committed to coming alongside these heroes as we seek to fulfill this need.
